The Truth and the Bad News about Wood Door Refinishing
The finish on your Front door will NOT last more than 5 years in Houston weather. You will at some point have to repair, restore or refinish your front door to maintain the value of your house.
Wood is a porous material and despite how you “seal” the wood, the weather impacts and deteriorates the finish on your doors.
The Houston weather is destroying your door's finish.
Have you noticed with changes in weather and temperature how your front door may not open or close perfectly, like it did when it is new? This is caused by the wood expanding and contracting and being baked by the Houston heat. The humidity and freezing water also impacts the doors.
If your door faces the South, then your door really gets beat down by the sun. It's called Southern Exposure.
A door with a worn out or "thin" finish will quickly expose raw wood to the elements and if not fixed, you will HAVE to REPLACE the door rather than REFINISH the door. A door replacement will cost your thousands.
The Good News…
DON’T INVEST THOUSANDS on a new front door just yet. Give us a chance to evaluate, repair and refinish your front door and SAVE you THOUSANDS.

How to Refinish a Front Door – The Process
This should take 2 to 6 hours depending on the number of doors and side lites.
Upon arrival, the technicians will evaluate the door, discuss the options and finalize the price.
If the door can be repaired, the door is removed from the door frame and set up in a temporary work booth on the driveway or yard.
A heavy plastic sheet is used to completely seal up the door way in your house or work. The doorway will not be usable during the repair process.
Through use of chemical stripping and/or sanding the door finish is removed down to the raw natural wood. Getting to raw wood is extremely important as raw wood will easily and uniformly accept the stain. Minor scratches, gouges, and in some cases missing molding will be replaced.
All removed material is vacuumed up and put in the trash. The technicians will leave no trace of work when they complete the job.
Stains are then applied then allowed to dry.
Several coats of sealant are sprayed on the door. Drying time is required between each coat. We add several fast drying top coats of sealant.
When the doors are dry, they are rehung and the technicians clean up the job site and leave.
